Madison cares for people of many different backgrounds and to do this well we need people of many different backgrounds to serve them. We enlist people who have participated in Madison ís diversity events and are passionate about this topic to become volunteers to assist in our intentional efforts at diversity. If you are interested in volunteering in these ministries, start attending things like the New Community Living Conversations or try out the Anti-racism Workshop which is held three to four times a year. For interest in any of the following areas please contact CaucusThe first step of antiracism work is to deal with the misshaping of our identities by the sin of racism. We believe that a multi-generational, socialization process has caused us to accept, believe, and live out societal roles that are not founded in God's truth and the process of caucusing helps us to confront the lies, accept God's truth of who we are, and help each other live in that truth. Caucusing provides a Christ-centered space for white people and people of color to wrestle with the lies of racism and together build a healthier body of Christ-centered believers fighting the sin of racism in a unified, God honoring way. Madison Anti-Racism Team (MART)This team consists of people who have attended an Understanding Racism Workshop, who identify themselves as anti-racist. The work of this group has been approved by Council and commissioned by the church. |
